2.73 to 3.42?
I want to get rid of the 2.73's. Not sure what to go to though. Is it worth it to go to 3.42's? My rear tire will be a 295/35/18.

Are you A4 or M6....
Most A4 guys go with 3.73's. Most M6 guys go with 4.10's.
Im M6 and have 3.73's. It runs great, sometimes I wonder what it would do with 4.10's though.

Isn't 273 a 2 series carrier and anything above 308 (or was it 323) a 3 series? Meaning the gears aren't swappable? Or are there gears specifically for those carriers? I ask, because I have a 3rd gen rear with 273s and swapping to a 6-speed.. and need to swap to 342 or higher so I dont burn out my clutch.. but dunno what I can do without completely swapping out the whole rear.

look, I replied to the thread which asked which one to go with and said 3:42's. I had east coast supercharging do the swap along with the yank converter and AR headers and I like the change. I also have a lot of other things done to my car as well.
I went from cruising down the highway @ 80 mph doing 1,800 rpm and now do the same speed and have added another 700 rpm's to the motor to cruise there. if I wanted better 1/4 mile times and all I did was track my car i'd probably go larger (3:73 - 3:90 - 4:10) but i drive mine everyday so, I like the feel (and economy) of 3:42's.
I do regret not going with a higher stall converter but at the time I wanted to just touch 11's.

Pretty sure larger (lower) would hurt your 1/4 miles times ??
