9" FTW, some will say if you have a a4 the 12 bolt is fine but if your going to change it do it right the first time and you will not have to think about it again IMO

I think I falls right in the middle of the 12bolt and the 9" in terms of strength, weight and power loss 'cos of drag ... I could be wrong, this is from my own experience with installing and working on all 3 types. Although the Dana would need a shorter driveshaft (the 9" only needs the u-join changed), so that's an additional expense. I guess price would be dependent on the options of each setup, but yeah, it is kind of a deal.

I like my 9" but if it is a moser(mine is), check the gears and have them reset before the install. I didn't and they scream at me all day. Now I need to get a new ring and pinion and have them set correctly.

I agree and have learned that lesson. Had i been a little more informed I would have had them reset the gears instead of going with mosers set up.

I always say for an auto, 12 bolt. Six speed, 9 inch.

I hope my gears are set up good from Moser.

I talked to them the other day< they told me on the phone they set them up at 12 thousands.....I would check them before you install and get the wear pattern in the gears. Otherwise you'll be gettin new ring and pinion like I am. Doesn't hurt to check before. My bud told me they should be between 8 & 10 thousands.
