    transmission problem

Hi guys I have a 97 Yukon GT I don't really know how to explain this please bear with me for I am a woman lol. When driving every half a mile about it seems that something in the trans bangs. It's like if the truck were skipping, not sure if its from the torque converter or something else. I was told there's some kind of computer on the side of transmission that may be bad, does this sound familiar to anyone. Any ideas or info would be appreciated, I just need to know if it sounds like I need a new tranny or if its a simple adjustment or something silly. Tranny fluid is up to par by the way. Thanks guys!

More metallic clang, or a clunk? You can expound on the one sentence description, because every half mile is probably not the variable. Accel, deccel, upshifted, downshifte...

It definately is more frequent than half a mile, it happens I believe on accel, decel, etc. Definately a clunk and it has 108,000 miles

Most likely it's the slop in the slip yolk / drive shaft or rear axle backlash. Very common on all GM trucks.

I didn't know it was common on these trucks. What made me pause for a moment is backlash. You are claiming too much? And it doesn't whine?

I'd start with the slip yolk.

They probably found the problem by now since this thread is almost a year old.

Before what is deleted? Threads are never deleted, unless they are inappropriate. However, default searches typically only look at the last 30-60 days, unless you change your settings.
