What kind of tires were you looking at to get up to $1000? I have 20" wheels on my SS Silverado and only spent $650 on a set of 4 Goodyear LS2's. You should be looking at most around $200/tire.

Tires prices have gone up considerably especially if they're imported. $1000 is pretty average for a quality tire in that size. Mine cost around $1200 in that same size

Edit: $1000 is average for a 10ply tire. A 4 or 6 ply will obviously be considerably cheaper.

if you go up to a 275 and go with a bfg all terrain it should look pretty good and those are a good tire . or even a procomp a/t will last awhile and its about the same tread design

I have the Falken Ziex in 265-70-17 on my Denali and love them. There great in the rain and work well in the snow. There also very quiet on the road and have good tread life. Discount Tire Direct has them for $126 a piece with free shipping.
