    Angry Stinkin Loud Mufflers

    Ok,

Allow me to explain what is wrong and why i am so depressed...

I tried several type of mufflers Corsa, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, ETC ALL THE SAME, ALL FKN LOUD on the outside and ON THE INSIDE!!!

I wouldnt be too upset if the noise was only on the outside...

Today i installed a custom exhaust with a dynomax tail pipe and a DNA Muffler with a 3" collector pipe. Calculated min space tolerance, installed extra noise reduction paddin, and exhaust inserts...

    Started it up and...

First my feet were shaking from the noise, and my ears almost POPPED, although i have tennitus.

So given up on buyin another loud exhaust, i am going to venture in guttin out some of the stock exhaust baffles...I am hopin to save face and get the flow with no inside resonance...

If anyone had any Horror / Success stories in doing so, let me know now or wait till later today for the news...

    A Theoretical Solution

    Ok, i cut open one...

    Its so simple its perfect...

The gas comes through the center pipe, goes back forward through the idle pipe, then continues to the exit through a final pipe...

What did i do, in the rear there are three little holes, i made them one big one, additionally i drilled fourteen 1/2" holes into the exit pipe. in the middle chamber...

Finally i am going to use a slip joint for the middle pipe so installation and removal are easier...

I will let you know what happens

    Talking

My little modifacation KICKS butt...I feel so much more pep out of the engine, and no Resonance inside the tahoe...

Additionally i think the pipe size has a lot to do with the noise too..If you stick to a smaller dia pipe the chances for the noise to come out is less then if you use a larger pipe...Plus you get more clearance space too...

Before you try and argue, but bigger pipe means more power think about it...If you are runnin a basic setup and simple bolt ons, the stock pipe is more than enough, however if you are cammin and boostin i would go with a bigger pipe...You wanna keep the air moving with high velocity, but not too much it causes back pressure, and not to little that the air cools before exitin the system

Thank you for takin the time to read all this
