    Retrofit

Hello out there in LS1 land. I'm new to this site and new to the LS1 engine. I have purchased an LS1 out of a 1992 Chevy Impala police car and want to modify it and put it in my project truck ('86 chevy pu). The engine is complete with fuel injection, cam driven water pump, and front drive distributor. What I want to do is remove the fuel injection and replace it with a carb/intake combo and relocate the distributor to the "normal" location behind the carb. My questions are:
1.) Does the LS1 have the block provisions to relocate the distributor to the back of the intake?
2.) Does the cam have the gear to turn the distributor?
3.) Is the water flow "reversed" from the standard SB?

The first LS1 came out in 1997 in the Corvette. Do you mean LT1?

Almost forgot - welcome to the site! I do believe we have at least one other Granbury member on here somewhere.

To answer a couple of your questions.
1)You will need a new intake to use a distributer. GMPP makes one especially for this.
2)Almost positive that the cam has the gear for the distributer.
3)Yes it does have reverse cooling. You have to maintain the crossover tube that is on the rear of the heads.

i may be mistaken, but i believe the distributor must be attached to the front with a new timing cover deal. ford style.
