    recharging a/c

my a/c compressor wouldnt kick on so i jumped the low pressure switch and it came on. So i assume i need to charge up the system. has Anyone done this themselves? i know they sell kits at the automotive stores, or should i take it to a shop.

Look at the pressures and adjust accordingly. That's a good check but I wouldn't fill the system until I saw the running pressures. Based on ambient temperatures say 70-80 degrees you should be anywhere from 16-29psi on the low side and 115-200 on the high side. The pressures will increase with temperature so say at 80-90 degress you should be anywhere from 19-39psi on the low side and 140-235 on the high side.

    Hope this helps.
