New to me '06 3500 silverado
Picked this up today...2006 3500 LT duramax crew cab with the allison trans. 58,000 miles. This thing is loaded. Should pull my car easy enough and anything else I'll ever need.

good looking truck....you'll love that duramax/allison combo. I love mine. Just put 4" straight piped exhaust on mine. Awesome.

Thanks guys...any info/advice will be greatly appreciated! I want to do some mods to get the MPG up...it's at a dismal 15.5 on the highway right now. Granted it's a huge truck but I've heard with exhaust, intake and tuner they can reach 20+?? Any input?

Nice truck.
With diesels, its all about moving air (no throttle), so I would think the better the engine can breath, the more efficient it will be. I always see ads for diesel upgrades claiming increased power and fuel mileage, but I don't have any first hand experience to verify the claims.

Thanks, right..yea a few of my friends have diesels and they all say that the better they breathe, the better the results.

get yourself a 5" turbo back strait pipe exhaust it wont add much power but helps with other mods it will lower EGTs (exhaust gas temps) and that alows you to run more power without hurting the motor also the larger diameter actually makes it not as loud as a smaller diameter pipe
for a cold air intake stay away from KandN i would recomend AFE
i would do the above mods before doing a programmer although you wont see a big difference they are neccesary before you tune it
for a programmer look into banks power
that should get you over 20mpg im pretty knowledgable on diesel power

Well it really doesn't matter they are all Basicly the same. Just get something cheap so you have more money for the tuner

I was looking for an exhaust with the slash cut exhaust tips that exit behind each tire
