    LS1 in Chevy 4x4

Hi, first post here. I am looking at swapping my 4.3L in my 85 K10 4x4 with an LS1. I have a SM465 tranny in there now and I am wondering if the LS1 will bolt up to it. Any ideas? I have searched all over, but not sure if this will work.

    Thanks,

    Marty

i dont think the tranny will bolt right up, you will prolly need an adaptor plate for it, since the LS1 is a totally different design from the "normal" 350's

I think it will bolt up, they have a lot of guys using the TH400 on teh LS1's so the bell housing pattern should be the same. If I remember though you have to omit a bolt or something

    Ls1 in 4x4

Hi this is my first post here also, I know for a fact that it will bolt up, I am running a 4l80-e behind a stock 350 in a 72 suburban, and it should be the same, my problem is that the engine I want to put in, a LQ4, needs new motor mounts as the engine sits further forward than original,,, if its the same you will need to fab a new crossmember i believe, for both the trans, and the engine to mount the motor mounts to, anybody know if there's another way?

ps your a/c pump aint gonna work, and i dont know what im gonna do about that

    Try this web site out:

Looks like they have mounts and adapters for a wide variety of Engine swaps including LS1

    86 944 LS1, 89 K1500 5.3l

Be careful doing the swap. I just recently finished putting a 1999 5.3l into my 1989 K1500. The tranny will bolt up, as said above, omit the one bolt. Also there is a spacer for the ls1 flywheel that you will need to buy or the stall will not sit deep enough into the tranny. Another problem is running the speedo. The newer trucks recieve a signal from the VSS to the guage cluster, then to the computer. If that is not right, the truck will never shift properly.
