Best Torque Cam for 5.3L?
Hey all, I've got a 2002 Yukon SLT 4WD that sees regular towing duty every weekend between May-September. I'd like to find a good cam that is suitable for towing while still retaining good DD characteristics. An upgraded torque converter is a given as I'll be rebuilding the trans sometime in the late spring/early summer anyways.
Any reccommendations on what would be the best cam for torque low-mid RPMs on the 5.3L? It probably doesn't matter but the Vin DeCoder I used says it's got the FlexFuel engine in it as well.

I would keep it around 220/220 Duration. If it were me with a 5.3, I would probably go with a TR224 on a 114 or 112 if you want the chop. A simple cutout on a 114 LSA will let you here the chop very well though.

Talk to a cam company about what you have. Since you probably have stock exhaust manifolds your going to need a longer exhaust split cam like a 219/228 215/232, 214/230.

Sent you a pm. I have a nice cam for your truck. I was going to use it in mine but I'm doing a turbo kit instead.

I would go with something like a 224/224.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
My buddy put a used LS6 cam in the 5.3 in his 67 Camaro. Broke the output shaft on the M6 during a 5K rpm clutch dump at the track. Is that enough torque for ya?

lol, it would seem like it at that instance, but I need something that would start developing more than 50% by 2k RPM, and carry across the table. More of a towing cam, as that's what I will be doing with the truck...

I sent you a PM. I have a brand new 220/220 .581 / .581 116 lsa cam for sale. It will idle like stock and make plenty of torque. Let me know.
