    6.0/4L60E swap done

Well it's pretty close to finished. I'm still waiting on all the AC parts to get here, but it's up and running and back to daily driver duty.

    I started with this

Here is the cross member to make it fit into an old 72 blazer

I went with a 4L60E with all the goodies inside to take some punishment. Advance Adapters made the necessary adapters to mate this thing to the old cast iron 205 transfer case. Here are some shots.

Here it is resting in the blazer ready for the engine...

This is the new 205 transfer case mount that I decided to buy so I didn't have to modify my original

Here is the custom made wire harness from Howell, they also supplied a computer to run it all...
Very simple plug and play with extra goodies like manual fan control if I care to, as well as cruise control since this has a drive by wire setup.

Here is how you make factory equipped mechanical gauges work with a modern LS engine.

I first pulled out the plug at the rear of the passenger side head....This is where the old temp sender for an analog gauge will go, in affect leaving the original temp sender in the driver side head for the computer to function properly.

Here is the difference in size

You simply drill and tap, install sender and run the original wire over to the passenger side....done.

The mechanical oil pressure gauge is much simpler.

Just remove the plug above the oil filter held in by 2 bolts. Drill and tap with 1/8" pipe tap and then run your normal copper line with compression fittings, or go braided with 37* flares. Very simple, and it works.

There is a ton of fab work here that I won't get into much, mainly because people wouldn't understand unless you are very familiar with these first gen blazers.
Things like cutting apart and moving the battery tray, the exhaust, the shift linkage, and it goes on and on....

But it's finished. AC parts are on the way. High mount AC compressor kit is from Kwik Performance. I custom made the air intake out of 4 inch piping from intakehoses.com to finish it off.

Right now I'm fine tuning this thing, tweaking shift points and what not. Seems to run strong despite the 3.07 gears and 33" tires.

WOW!!! Very nice build! By the look of the engine cover, I'm assuming LQ4? That thing is gonna be a beast with that power plant.

    That is just awesome.

Yes LQ4 6.0 from a 2004 3/4 ton truck. It runs decent considering the gear and the tire. I'd like to see a little more pep out of it. But I've only begun to tune it too. So there may be quite a bit hiding yet. The timing tables were some of the weakest I've seen, and I haven't tinkered with the fuel tables yet.

Thanks Jeff. I didn't spend too much time on it simply because it's a driver and I don't want something too nice for that. It did turn out cleaner than I had thought it would though.

What's crazy is... you just got volunteered to build and install an LQ9 into my Z28

Haha, I wasn't aware of any poles going on but I'll take you up on the swap. I'd gladly do it to a car that is already made for an LS platform. That Blazer was no easy swap

Ya figures. Sometimes they stay up for weeks, other times just days. After all that posting too.

I'm probably going to have to resubmit the pictures to photobucket and try again, since they removed them all. Not sure how long they will stay in there though. I've had this issue for a long time.
