    5.3 to ls1 swap in 05 z71

My 5.3 is dead and I can get my hands on a ls1 for free. I have been doing alot of reading about this and still have questions. The biggest one is about the crank sensor. Read in one forum about different bit rates or something like that. If anyone has done this swap any help will be greatly apprecated.

I think what you are referring to is the reluctor wheel on the crank. 24x vs 58x.

LS1's are 24x while it depends on what yr the 5.3 was made. Sometime around 04' GM switched over to 58x wheel. Look at the color of your crank sensor and tell us what color it is.

Even if you have a 24x and need the 58x it isn't hard to do. Any auto machine shop can press off/on the reluctor wheels. You just have to take the crank out.

It is very important to match the wheel to what your ecm uses for input.
