    2005 silverado. what will these mods get me?

    Sorry about not introducing myself. I"m writing from Iraq and i'm always in a hurry. I will introduce myself to everyone as soon as i can get some time. I just wanted to ask what kind of power my 2005 silverado extended cab 5.3liter auto would get with these mods.

    k/n cold air intake. (whats better? the 77 series or the plastic kind?)
    hooker longtubes 13/4 with offroad ypipe and o2 sims.
    gibson side exhaust
    throttlebody spacer( do they even work?)
    mass air meter

    are there any good mods out there like intake manifolds for vortecs?
    also what type of 5.3 liter does the 2005 model have?

    Hey

    I have an 06 Silverado and I had an 05 I use the plastic K&N I don't know if it's the 77 series but I get about 20 hp from it the chrome one doesn't allow for as great of air flow. I have a flowmaster 40 series and get about 20-25 hp from it. As for the headers I would just keep them stock.

    20-25 hp from a muffler? I dont even think my ORY with a cutout and a flowmaster gave me that much.

    Well it's not a muffler running on a factor air cleaner it's an exhaust system using a cold air intake. Thanks For Reading My Post

    Now now fellows, lets not knock the idea of "freein up power"

    We all have to remember GM engineers are working on a Best value Budget.

    I use to own a 2003 Chevy Tahoe. Milage was crappy and power null, 295 at the flywheel.
    I swapped out the engine fan for a Flex-a-lite electric one.
    I also put in JBA stainless short headers and a custom true dual 3" exhaust.
    It roared..
    I then installed a 80mm BBk throttle body, K&n 77 series intake, and Jet Chip spacer.
    I then earthed the engine and installed a hypervoltage to regulate the voltage.
    I went from 18-20 liters per 100 km at 140kph to 12 liters per 100km at 140kph.
    But it came with a price tag that almost broke the bank. You have to find a kit that suits your needs. Do you want HP or Torque? Do you want milage or Power?
    My honest opinion, i would go with a nice pair of headers, an intake kit, and an earthin kit. Anything more than that would be a waste.

    Hi! I'm new to the forum. I have a 02 Silverado and I want to free up some power and maybe get some mileage too!? I read your thread and wondered what do you mean by earthin kit? I'm looking for advice whats the best thing to do! Thanks!! DD

    Cool Earthin kit

    Good Day to you,

    An earthin kit also known as a grounding kit helps distribt the negative charge around the engine bay assistin in proper function.

    HKS makes a good universal kit you may use. May i also suggest the Hypervoltage by Sun Auto which will regulate the voltage output and reframe it from spikin which causes damage to your electical system.

    The kit discribes the best areas for installation, dependin on your application.
