05 silverado wants more power
I have an 05 silverado 5.3L. I have a cold air intake, power aid throttlebody spacer, hypertech programmer, and flowmaster 44 series cat back with 3inch pipe. I thought I would be satisfied with that but i'm not! I need more power. What else can I do that would give me some of the most power without breaking the bank. rockers? mass air flow sensor? throttle body? headers? ignition?

get you atleast a mail order tune(no handheld junk)
longtube headers
4.10 gears
corvette servo
you'll feel a nice difference with that stuff.
get rid of that hypercrapper and get a real tune and you'll feel a big difference

what is a good programmer since hypertech isn't any good. Won't 4.10 gears kill your top speed and gas milage

def. not TB. i have one on my 02 sierra. worthless. all it does is make a stupid whistle noise. but def. with a gear change (4.10's are nice) and a tune, you should be good. maybe even a high stall tc.

nelson is good...i have a buddy that uses wait4me and is very happy with them. heards of a lot of guys using wheatley...my last truck was a 2005 5.3 x-cab, 216/224 .551 cam, lt headers, true dual exhaust, 3.23 gears with 285/50/20 tires and a custom dyno tune...i got 22.5mpg i switched to 4.10s and got 20-21mpg. not much of a loss
my new truck has basically the same mods and i get 20+mpg with 3.73 gears

Mpg
How are you getting 22MPG! I have the same engine and tires with a lot of the so called fuel saving add ons and I get about 15.5MPG. Now is there something I'm missing or doing wrong?

if my new truck would've had anything less than 3.73's i would've swapped in 4.10s.

Tunes
The onlything that i don't get is the price difference between the three tunes. Nelson is $375, wheatly is $275 and Wait4Me is $75 with a second tune @ $50. Maybe it's just me but something doesn't sound right. Which tune did you have. Sorry, I know I ask a lot of questions. I feel like I got screwed with the hypertech and I just want to get screwed again.

Lt. pewter- 02 suburban
HEY DOZERDAN I HATE TO CHANGE THE SUBJECT BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW A MORE ABOUT THE CAM 216/224 .551 LIFT.... DO YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE STALL... DID YOU CHANGE OUT THE HEADS... AND BEST OF ALL HOW DOES IT PERFORM FOR DD WITH THAT WILL PULL A 31' TRAVEL TRAILER ABOUT 3 TO 4 TIMES A YEAR FOR A 250 MILES OR LESS...
ARE YOU RUNNING THE VINICI HIGH PERFORMACE CAM WITH 115 LSA... MY SUBURBAN IS A LITTLE SLOW BUT NEED MORE LOW END TQ... DO YOU THINK CHANGING THE GEARS FIRST FROM 3.73 TO 4.10 WOULD HELP THE LOW END...
GEE ALOT OF QUESTIONS BUT I AM A LITTLE GREEN IN PULLING PERFORMACE FROM MY 02' SUBURBAN... IT'S SEEMS THAT I WOULD BE SATISFIED WITH UPGRADES WHICH DID BETTER THAT WHAT IS WAS BEFORE ANY MODS... JUST MADE SOME WRONG TURNS...
IF YOU WOULD PLEASE HELP...
JUST DON'T WHAT TO THROUGH MONEY IN THE WRONG DIRECTION ANY MORE...
THANKS...

Black- 2007 Silverado
For that big burban i'd prolly go with a comp 212/218 or smaller...i don't notice much a difference between 3.73 and 4.10's. i put 4.10s in my old truck and my new one has 3.73s. the vinci 216/224 .551 definitely needed atleast a 3000 stall. you don't need to change the heads, i did daily drive with it, i did tow with and it did everything i ask of it very well. i would definitely go with a smaller cam for a suburban though
