    01 S-10 4.3l idle problem

I have my truck in storage right now, im in the process of selling it. I had a friend go and start it up, he said there was not problem, battery was good, but as soon as he dropped it into gear it wouldnt idle. What could this be? Before i stored it i added fuel stabilizer. Could it be the Torque converter? a sensor? or EGR valve? I had someone one another web site say it could need plugs, wires , and tune-up, but i doubt it, if it was that it would run like crap as soon as you start it.

Could be almost anything. Is the check engine light on?? If so, pull the codes and diagnose from there.

If not, knowing that the 4.3's often have trouble with leaking fuel injector (spider) assemblies, that is a definite possibility. What happends is the fuel injection system, which is located in the lower half of the intake, begins to leak. So you get raw, un-atomized fuel dumping into the intake ports. This results in rough idle, stalling, poor driveability, and usually black smoke out the exhaust.

IAC, idle air control valve. You can find it right on the side of the T/B.
