Unfortunatly the next thing to get changed on the Camaro will be a 9" unless I break something else first. I am now into the part of modding the car that is going to be nothing but really expensive stuff. Wish there were more 400-500 parts I could just bolt on that would give me 40+ RWHP.

Damn I have to release all of my secrets, huh?? JJ!! They are off of a 2006 PONTIAC Gran Prix GXP. They are actually a little bigger oval than the factory ones and I liked the factory look. HAte the echo tips and such most put on theirs. Those should be left on trucks!!

Hear you there!! I had a Strange 12 bolt I bought used for $1200.00 and unfortunately had to trade for a 3:73 loaded,whiney-asses 10 bolt due to financial strain at the time. I did manage to get $1600.00 though and a free 10 bolt! I'm working on the same thing now. Don't know if I'll swithc to a 9" or go back 12 bolt. I don't know but a little STRANGE now and then is good!!

I also learned that my car did not like sticky tires and 3.42s. Could not fight the bog very well. One of the big reasons I want a new rear end is so I can go up to 4.10s and not waste the money putting new gears into a 10 bolt. I have been throwing around the idea of which rear I want. So far 9" is winning just because it will not whine and it is cheap compared to something like the S60. I still have to work out some finaces before I can commit to buying, so everything could change by then

At least compared to getting forged internals the rear end is cheap

Understood!! I too am thinking everytime I launch on stickys I'm gonna shell that rear. It has put up with some abuse though. I'm thinking that whatever ring& pinion they put in my rear must be harder steel than factory although it does whine. I've seen many break under weaker launches.

im at the crossroads as well...

trying to save for either a 9" or 12-bolt w/4.30's and retain both ABS and TCS. now with two car payments since the Explorer 'exploded', i have a good 6-8 months before the SS is paid off. floating 2 car payments for a few months isnt a big deal, but it does mean the savings for the rear-end is on hold for the time being...

You might be lucky and have a set of GM gears. Through my experience they are the longest lasting and quiest of all the different sets we have tried. In fact the ring on a GM set is 7 5/8 and not 7.5 like the aftermarket stuff. Still a weak gear, but they can handle a good amount of abuse before you start loosing teeth.

Summer is my dry months as far as work goes. Once I get through that I will be able to hopefully have the 9" ready to go in Sept. All depends on how well I save and make cash.
