Found this link...http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...3ba0cdf0b3306d guess im gonna have to do it. It does kinda make sense now. Ive noticed very tiny thin black speckles on my rear bumper that wipe off easily. I suppose this explains what they are. Now I wonder how nasty my valves and shit are from it blowing so much oil through the intake

    Don't go cheap.
The more expensive catch cans have filters and are designed much better to not allow blow-by.

If that doesn't clear up the oil burning...might want to check into the valve seat seals.

On another note, I found out this thing eats oil. ALOT of it. It doesnt smoke, and it doesnt have any leaks anywhere. Ive driven it about 2500 miles since my last oil change and today after I washed it the low oil light came on. SOB was 2 quarts low!
On the '01 models, theres an issue with the rings not seating. I had the same problem with my motor. Found out there was a tsb from chevrolet that in fact there's an issue. A catch can is a good/cheap temporary fix. The real fix is putting new rings on.

When my stock motor was disassembled, you could actually see the cross-hatching in some of the cylinders. Definite sign the rings never seated.

That is how mine is set up, bought it from Thunder Racing. If you are going through so much oil though I think there might be a bigger problem.

2 quarts in 2500 miles. Though I do lean on it quite a bit. Ill put a nice can on it and see what happens. Though the can isnt gonna stop the oil from heaving out of the case, its only going to prevent it from entering the intake. Will be a good marker though. If There isnt much oil in the can, but its still eating oil, then I know I can start shopping for either a stroker kit or a long block

Mine does not burn any oil that i have noticed. However, I think a catch can is a good idea no matter what. Mine only had about an oz in it when I last emptied it out (try every oil change) but it was some of the nastiest stuff I have seen and I defiantly do not want that going through my inta

Just the catch can. New motor has better rings and tolerances. I'd suggest getting only the catch can for now. You can always get the pcv conversion deal later if you feel it to be necessary.

Getting oil in the intake is what I don't want to happen either. Catch can provides a pretty good deterrent for that.

Just curious, but if someone were to buy the Texas Speed LSx 454cid shortblock, what heads would go on it? Would the FAST 92/92 fit on it? Which headers? Anyone familiar with it?

Header wise I believe Kooks makes a 2 inch header with a 4" collector for it. I have been itching to save for one myself. But I dont know if i should. Its like 4500+
