Work was busy today. I guess folks who wanted to come by yesterday couldn't due to the storm. Pretty good.

ran VERY poorly. the techs i work with are great people and work really hard but we arent appreciated. The repuation of the bob ciasulli brand is bad, and in order to get customers the management thinks everyone should work like a dog and for free. The customers know they can get shit for free therefore they expect everything for free and dont buy anything. Hence pissed off techs.

oh yeah, my service manager is a salesman/sales manager turned service manager so he really has no idea what its like to work in the service bay and the concept of work done versus time paid. He thinks everything is 1 2 3, and that we dont mind courtesy repairs or getting .3 to do a job that you are supposed to get an hour.

He is lucky. When I was looking for a job, I saw that to be a service manager, one needed to have numerous ASEs as well as an L1/2 for at least 3-5 years. Sounds like he got an easy "promotion". I doubt he will last long.

This is the 2nd time hes been the service manager there. Unless the numbers get bad enough, hes not going anywhere. As far as the ases and L1/2, I've never heard of a manager needing that. Why would they? They dont work on cars. I do think they should have a service background though, particularly as a mechanic.

If I remember correctly, Midas wanted the ASEs and some dealers that were advertising in Monster and CareerBuilder. I was like "WTF?!" I guess some companies want someone who actually knows what they are doing to run a shop rather than take someone's word, which I can understand. Shops are getting more strict as the days go by. Hell, I dunno if I am allowed to do alignments at my job as I am still considered a "new hire". But I have done seven alignments during the month I have been with the company. Even if they tell me no, I will keep on doing alignments.

EDIT: SPEAKING OF ALIGNMENTS...I did one on an Altima and took it for a test drive, which, as usual, was spot-on. While on the drive, I saw this:

Not yet, but according to my manager one has been ordered. The shop I used to work at(where Cuervo is) has that model. It is a breeze.

only thing i hate about alignments is smashing my hands against metal getting the tie rod nuts loose.
