    '98 WS6 M6 - SWAPTIME!

    hell yes. off work early today to get my engine back under the car by 11 tonight once i figure out how to make the front cover clear the oil pump

    it's a lot more roomy by my desk at work today. the person that sits behind me in the aisle quit this morning.

    Then it isn't together right. There is no reason for it not clearing. Did you put on a new set of timing gears? If they're not pressed in all the way then you could have a clearance issue.

    Hey silly - did you try putting oil on the bolts, fitting the cover and grinding as needed like the one dude said?

    that is exactly what i did. i'm just weary of grinding thru the piping that's hitting the cover. i ground the heads down on the four bolts and that part clears now ... everything else clears but the bottom left side of the oil pipe part of the pump. i may take a little more off today i just don't want to make it too thin. it WILL go on today. once i get that on, it's just oil pan and then go on to putting all the water pump, blah blah blah on and it's ready for the cradle! i will be driving it tomorrow night no matter what

    Yea, it justs needs a little more 'massaging' and dammit, don't they make an aftermarket cover that just bolts on and clears the double timing chain set!!!???

    Odd every double set I ran across there was no clearancing needed
