So I finished my new compressor install last weekend and everything checks out great. Kicks on around 135 psi and off at 175 psi. I go out and do some blasting this evening and notice that it seems to be short cycling. Go downstairs to check it out and sure enough, it is kicking on at 150 psi and off at 165 psi. WTF?!

I then noticed that when it kicks off, it's not doing the "air pop" like they are supposed to do. I pull the cover off the pressure switch and it looks like one of the contacts has been arcing. Brand new friggin' Ingersoll Rand air compressor. FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

Get in touch with IR. From what I have heard IR is a great company. I have two impact wrenches from them and I'm not complaining.

I am going to look it over good tomorrow to see if I can find anything physically wrong with the switch assembly. If not, I'll be contacting IR like you said. I have been jonesing for a new IR air impact. I have a 20 year old Craftsman right now that is getting weak.

Do you oil your impact tool at all? You could have some water in it. I know when I used to work with Cuervo, the shop had an old compressor that would almost flood my airguns daily. When we drained the compressor, orange water would pour out. Used to cause my guns to seize to the point where I had to pull them apart and clean and flood them with oil to get them to work rather than drop oil down the nipple. I dunno if the boss replaced that compressor tho.

I am religious about oiling my air tools and perform regular compressor maintenance to avoid any significant water accumulation. I think it is just plain wore out.

Check out Sears then. I think they are having a sale right now. I am thinking about getting myself a tool chest to go with my toolbox.

I caught hell from Jeff today for goin' around jackasses at the redlight. Two people on opposite sides, both turning left and they go ONE AT A TIME. FFFFUUUU. Before the redlight, the cockbag pulled out in front of me a mile earlier and drove slow the whole way into town.

It was pretty funny -- I caught the name on the truck and then saw that it was you driving. You did not look at all impressed.

Yeah I kept changing my mind. Ended up getting 2 end tables and a coffee table as well so all I need now is the tv stand. Still no luck with that.
