i usually start out in second, no gas and let the car do the work till it gets moving good enough to use the gas....

Yes, and even they are too wide imo. But I can't get any smaller than a 17 inch wheel on my car because of the oversized rotors/calipers. And finding a 17 inch wheel that is < 9 inches wide is pretty much impossible. Not to mention, narrower tires are also taller and I don't have the clearance for that either.

For weights though I got a trick set-up. Got my hands on something new from work that isn't available yet to anyone, even the company that is commissioning us to make them has only recieved samples to okay and test on. =) Not saying anything beyond that though, don't want to get in trouble.

I drive in 3rd or 4th in the snow and if the rear tires slip, I pop the clutch and lightly tap the brakes the keep the car in a straight line. From a stop, I start in 2nd.

I'd put my drag radials back on but the one has cords coming out and doesn't hold air well anymore.
Yes I have done it. It wasn't horrible other than sliding down a hill and across a main road that was fortunately empty at the time Got up a pretty steep hill as well

When you stop in snow. Keep it in gear as long as possible, just not to low of a gear. I've been saved from sliding through intersections before because I had that added drag of the transmission. In snow I go to 6th gear at 42mph, and that is with 3.42's. It is usually a hell of a struggle to get there though, because fifth gear will break the tires loose so easily. Now if you put me in my bro's tortoise(taurus) I will go 70mph anywhere. I even took that thing out on the lake last year. When it had 3 inches of snow on it. I made really wide loops turning because I figured if I stopped I was fucked.

I still remember the SUV drivers giving me the stares when I drove past them. Was funny. I would be in my car telling myself these folks obviously have never seen a GTO in the snow before.

I keep my gas tank as close to full in winter...FREE WEIGHT! And when you rotate tires, you want the BEST treaded ones to be on the front, not the rear.

Last winter I had an incident where I started fish tailing going 70mph, still can't believe I saved it. Literally from one side of the road all the way to the other shoulder in back to save it. People behind me had to be impressed.
