That doesn't make any sense. The smaller tread will cause more pressure on the snow. More pressure means more temp and that means the snow melts. I would be like driving with casters on your car. You would slide every where. What you need is weight on the rear and wide tires. Drive slow in a low gear and use momentum to go up hill. I've spent time in New England and in the south with snow. In the south there is more humidity and higher temps making the snow slush. Up north though better salting, lower temps make the snow nice and hard. Treat it like sand and you will be fine.

The other drivers though.... keep your distance.

Had my health insurance examination last night. Waiting to see what happens to my premiums now. The nurse told me I needed to gain weight. I was 5'9" even and 128.1 lbs. I don't know how but I've lost weight since last weighed, wierd. I hadn't drank water in a long time either so it was hard to get blood sample and I had to get poked several times =( First blood test that I can remember. Others I was like 3 or some shit. Perfect blood pressure at least.

If they tell me they will cut me a break on premiums if I gain weight, I am going to fucking party my ass off on news years

You sir are a moron. Wide tires are exactly what you DONT want. Winter/Ice tires are ALWAYS narrow. They cut through the snow down to the surface better. Wide tires just float. Trust me, I did a winter on 275's once, worst winter ever. NARROW is better.

WRONG!!! with wider tires they push more snow out of the way and you lose traction...

Priorities for Sizing Winter Tires Are Different

Does your sports car, coupe or sedan use wide, low profile tires that are mounted on large diameter wheels? Or does your light truck use large flotation-sized tires? If you're going to drive through lots of snow this year you'll want your winter tires and wheels in sizes that help put the laws of physics on your side.

A wide, low profile or large tire has to "plow" a wide path through snow which causes more resistance. The narrower the tire, the easier you can get through snow. We'll help verify sufficient load capacity and the appropriate diameter for your vehicle when you speak with one of our sales specialists or use Winter Shop by Vehicle.

Taken straight from tirerack.com, sells more tires than any other retailer. Seriously, how the fuck can you think wider is better?!?! Oh, and drive slow in low gear? Lets call low gear 3rd on my car. I can tell you with a tap of the gas I can break the tires loose in third. What you want, is the highest gear you can get in, and really bog low rpms. This way even if you floor it, and you arn't going to have the mechanical leverage needed for the supplied torque to break the tires loose.

Low gears? You want to be in the highest gear without seriously lugging the engine to reduce tire spin.
