    Hey guys, can you help me finish this job up?

    Alright, im about to wrap this up. All springs are changed except for the last cylinder. Im checking PTV and my method seems to work pretty well. I have my finger on top of the valve stem and push down... I feel the piston come up... then it dwells for a brief moment and starts going back down. I have checked in a few different places and so far I am seeing at least .200" before it reaches the top of the piston. One time it went .211" before hitting. I know subtract that number from my total lift(Cam + rocker arm ratio) of just the cam lift? If I subtract it from my total lift of .578 on exhuast I get .378?

    If I subtract from just my cam net lift of .340 I get .140. That sounds correct to me. Did I do the math right?

    .340x1.7=.578

    .340x1.7=.578

    And THIS is WHY I hate math.

    Hopefully GTP gets in here, or HASTING, or firebirdjones, or Orion....

    Hell many people know this answer... and I think 95% that is correct. I just want to here it before I install my last two springs and seals.

    but that is the correct math right? I know Im kinda cheating, but I just dont wanna yank the heads. I am going with a higher reading just to be sure, but it sounds like im good. The one reading of .211" was right after it dwelled and barely started going down. I have gotten way less of a number, like high 180's, so Im assuming that is even closer to TDC. With .180"...

    .340-.180= .160"

    I think im good to go.

    Sounds like it. Do you have a dial indicator and test springs?

    I just like to hear some re-asuurance from people who have done this before. Even though in my head it sounded all good, I just like to hear someones else's opinion who has been there.

    Dont worry, If I somehow fucked this up.... Im not gonna blame it on you and try to sue you.

    This has got to be better than LS1howto. com 's method of "praying" with the coil packs disconnected though.

    I'd do an oil change first then crank it over with the coil packs and or fuel pump fuse out to get oil pressure before firing it up. The gauge will read while cranking when you get pressure
