where is the oil filter, non ls1

i have a 1959 chevy belair and i was going to chenge the oil canister to a oil filter this weekend but when i got under the car it didnt have a filter/ canister. not knowing what was going on i took some pics and went to napa to see if any one there heard of an engine not having a filter and they didnt have a clue. just wanted to see if any one on here heard of a chevy 283 not having a filter. the last 89 chevy i had was not like this and it had the canister and i changed that one to a filter style. here are some pics.

I remember my dad telling me once that he had a chevy that did not have a oil filter. According to him it was the only year that chevy did not put a oil filter on a engine for what ever reason.

well thanks. my last 59 had a canister but this one has just a bolt that goes through the hole and when i removed it oil came out. i tried to pull that cap out but it looks and feels like it is cast into the block. this car came from hawaii, it has power steering and no heater. who knows i just wanted to see if anyone else knew anything about it.
