What will happen to Solstice/Sky

So Pontiac and Saturn are DONE....

Whats gonna happen to the Solstice/Sky platform?

I know its not an uber sports car, but for a Miata type car its a cool little car. Will they just choose one of them and throw a chevy badge, but will they or will the platform just be wasted cash?

I would prefer they keep the sky... and make a hard top version...

They will make them until 2010 and then its done, no news of them using that platform again. It was a really badass car 2900lbs RWD 260hp/260trq 2.0 turbo. A fuel system that can support 400whp and the ecotec 2.0 is a super strong engine. I hope chevy releases a car using the chassis and powertrain it really is a great car.

It's a shame i havent heard anything about it. Its one of the cars that GM actually did a good job on.

It would be nice if they would spice it up and maybe do something similar to the Opel GT concept.

I'm just saying the last press release from GM I read and everything on the G8 forums and such said we MIGHT get a cop car version but no sale to general public. Now I dont live on the internet so I might have missed something so....

I've read the G8 platform will be GM's new cop car platform, but no plans to sell it to the public new. I think the only way to get one will be when the Police retire them.

And yeah, it sux that GM will let their small RWD sports cars die. It looks way better than that Opel GT concept. The Saturn especially is nice, 5 years ago there would be now way you could've told me Saturn would make such a cool car.

I have read different things here and there but all came to the conclusion that if the g8 was rebadged as the caprice it would not be a performance car like the g8 gt and g8 gxp. Personally i like the solstice coupe the best, the targa top is badass aswell.

There are alot of things to blame Obama for, most more important than him canceling gm RWD platforms. But he is partially to blame for that aswell.

Well, he didn't actually decree that RWD is dead, but the gas mileage standards are what killed the platforms. RWD is about 1-2 MPG less effecient than FWD. And I think Obama wants the higher CAFE ratings.
