LS1 Lumina times at Muncie Dragstrip

    Greetings Everyone.
First off let me say the times are real, and about what I expected.
Getting a stock LS1 under 13 seconds is tough from what I've read. Some 01's were clocked at 12.9 but these cars were SLP cars with slight mods, and some WS6's also showed times just under 13 seconds.
My Car has LT pacesetters(1 3/4"), a 3" Y pipe to match the dumps, a CAI, Computer tune, EGR delete.

    Heres my times....
    Pass one
    r/t .794
    1/4 13.576
    mph 96.64

Pass 2 no quarter mile time (scoring error?)
    r/t .333

    Pass 3
    r/t .499
    1/4 13.511
    mph 108.84

    Pass 4
    r/t .538
    1/4 13.681
    Mph 105.72

I need to work on my Reaction times but overall I'm pleased with the times. I plan on a few mods over the winter, going to do heads, cam, and SS Torque converter. More low end torque is what is lacking, after the launch and the tires hooking up I could feel a slight Bog.
    Comments and suggestions are welcome.

what did your 60' times look like? You MPH enough in those last 2 too run better than mid 13's. Sounds like maybe you need to launch better. With a good 60 you could hit high 12's with a 108mph trap.

Trap speeds show the power of a stock LS1. Nice times. Nice conversion on the Lumina as well.
2.0x 60 ft is decent for street tires, what size are you running? Also, you do know that reaction time
has nothing to do with ET?

I was last at Muncie Dragway last summer, to watch but not race.

put some drag radials and flash the convertor should get those 60' times down considerably. remember 1 10th on the little end equals 2 10th's on the big end. so say you take your 60' from a 2.0 down to a 1.7 that should take you from a 13.5 to around a 12.9 while still trapping the same mph

Care to elaborate? I talked to my tuner and he says you can't tune a converter to make a car quicker.

you have to replace the stock one with a higher stall.....going to like a 3500 stall will shave .5 off your time. Your tuner can do some tranny stuff though that will make it shift quicker, firmer, and remove the factory torque management settings.

If you plan on doing h/c/i i would hold off on a stall until you see where you peak hp and torque is. This way you can get the correct stall for your new setup. I did not wait and it cost me a additional $250 to have it reflashed. Just a thought.

o.k. that's what I thought he meant. The tune mods have already been done that you've mentioned.

The Tuner has the recorded runs, I seen them on his Laptop while he was making chages. When I showed him my slips first thing out of his mouth was stall speed, and Cam. Both are relatively easy to do for me but I think they will be winter projects. I see all the guys going to forced air one way or another, but after seeing the times Carb'd and regular FI's are putting down I'm staying on course.

if you have a stall or when you get one. flashing it is when you sit at an idle and punch it when the light turns green. usually will throw the rpms close to your stall speed and allows the car to leave like a bat outta hell. you will have to practice it but will love it when you get it down.

only works with an aftermarket convertor (stall)

I know someone who ran his LS1 conversion at Muncie a few weeks ago, his car ran 112 MPH at a 14.0. Let's just say traction was a problem, the engine is stock with the T56 behind it, I think his rear gears are something like a 4.33, and the car is a 240SX. When/if he gets his traction, I see low 12s for this combo with excellent MPG.
