If you had $40k to spend....
If you were going to spend $40k what you you buy... or what would you recommend I get in that price range...
Here is what it MUST have...
1. V8 or greater
2. Manual
3. Must be rare/exotic.
I was looking at Vipers, but Dodge just announced that they are going to continue the car and even release a new model in 2013 so thats a no go....
My REAL choice would be a Ford GT, but there is no way i could afford that...
I have looked at XLRs, but they are autos, under appriceated, and seeing a price drop like you wouldn't believe...
Considered a midyear corvette and a 71 cuda, but it woudl take me so long to build one and honestly i would like to be able to finance whatever i buy so that i can keep cash on hand incase i start to see some hard times....
Ok so cars i have looked at...
Shelby Series 1 - Cost
GT - Cost
Panoz - Looks
Viper - Still being made
XLR - Soon to be ghetto cruiser
CTS V - Still made and new models are expensive
C6 - more of them on the streets than honda civics
Z4 - not a v8... new model just came out
NSX - not a v8
I'm sure i have looked at more, but i will ocver the suggestions as they come in... I really feel like I'm screwed on this one...
AND YES... I have considered getting a rare T/A or building a nice example of a 4th gen...

noble - not an 8 m-12 is ugly (to me) and the m15 is pricey...
lotus espirit - just barely in my price range, not really keen on the looks... not a 6 speed...
pantera- would love to build one up, but once i really got it where i want it i would be 35 and have $50k in that car...

You can't beat a C6 Z06 for the money + + + you'll have a huge aftermarket of parts and tuners to choose from

Should have clarified by saying a Z4 hardtop... hope that makes you think a little more highly of me... One with an M5 V8 swap would be a nasty lil car also...
Now on the C6Z note...
FIRST... they are still usually up around $50k... (or atleast last time i looked)
second... I have known a few people that owned early ones (07's you know the cheap ones) and they had valve train issues... I dont want to pull needle bearing out of my oil pan...
Third... If i were going the vette route (BTW I used to own one... as you see i no longer do because of theyre very common cars around this town) i would do a LS2 C6 Z51... they are popping in under $30k which leaves alot of room for mods...
4th... I want to do a twinscrew on my next ride... The Z06 is too think walled to respond well to more than about 5psi of boost...

p.s. also to add to my list of things ive looked at would be Aston DB7s (the DB9 and vantage are so much nicer cars) and Maserati GTs (i dont like the styling)...Last edited by predator; 01-16-2010 at 06:41 PM.

that is the new one...
This is the one i dont like the styiling of...
and the new ones are over $100k im sure... Definitely not $40k...
And just so people dont think im just throwing good suggestions out... I actually looked into the noble lineup and the only ones i would want... M15 and M600 are way out of my price range...

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
He specifically states what he is seeking. He clearly states he wants a V8, and this is a car forum, so we are talking specifically what he would do with 40k in regards to a car, nothing else. If he wanted suggestions that were not strictly inclusive to cars, he would have posted it in AAG with other criteria. If you guys are not gonna offer suggestions to the OP on how to spend 40k on a vehicle, stay out of the thread.

To address this... This actually crossed my mind... This is one reason in the suggestions im really looking for something i can finance (if possible, i left that part off just to see what kinda of things come from you guys) so that i can retain enough cash to cover my bills for 2 years with no income... Im nearly to the point that i can afford to do that... I know in the end financing would cost me extra cash and waiting would be the more responsible thing, but i am still a bit of a kid and would like to rush this along a bit...
KITS...
I really really really considered a Factory 5 of all types... The GTM is NEARLY the car for me... just not quite... and im not a fan of "fake" cars... replicas are usually better than the original, but its still somehow not the same... and i would really like to have a car this year (summer hopefully) if i can ever just settle on somehting and a kit takes SOOOO long to build...

How about a Ferrari 308. Can get them under 40. Plus classic car insurance.
