Just heard about the new GT, probably old news now, but 400hp not too bad. What's chevy going to do about this, any concerns with u guys. Nice to see so competition With the rivalries. I'd say they make a commercial together mustang vs. Camaro, couldn't hurt sales and it would make the rivalry more interesting.

Yah some ford sights were all riled up about it. Should kick some ass stock, still hate to see what a cam swap would cost.

I like the idea of more displacement.

Chevy really doesnt have to do much since 430>400! If they actually come out with the new Z28 then ford is really in big trouble!

It's 412hp and the camaro has 426 but the mustang is a couple hundred lbs lighter so it should be a pretty close race stock for stock.

owning that mustang will be like coming out of the closet. at first youll surprise everyone, but in the end, youre still gay.....haha had to say it...but really it should be a nice competition...ive heard stories of near stock 4th gens beating new camaros, so i wonder how they will hold up agianst the new mustang.

True, I went and looked up the correct numbers after I posted. The Camaro numbers are of course slightly under rated but not as much as the 4th gens were. I do think itll be a pretty decent race between the two. Its crazy how ford got 100hp from boring out the old 4.6!

395 whp to the camaros 335hp in an auto. ford way underrated their hp numbers. its all good. i dont drive the new one, i drive the currently labeled old one that competes with the newer ones stock for stock. fortunately mine isnt stock.

Being the GM nutswinger that i am, i hope GM has an answer to the 5.0 and im not just talking the Z28 since i know the ford guys will say that is GT500 territory. I will prolly never buy a new Camaro but i would still like to see it go on a diet and get up to 450 hp since we all know the 5.0 is up there. With that being said i just wonder how the 5.0 will react to mods. I have heard it will and wont react that great but then again it is only a guess. This has all been beat to death but i really think GM has something brewing up there sleeve i highly doubt there will just sit back and watch.

Hmm its funny you say that about the Chevelle. I remember seeing in my Hotrod mag that a company which i dont remember the name was building so many modern ones and they looked really nice. I dont think it was to many thou and i think they cost over 100k if im not mistaken but what do you expect for 100k. I will see if i can find it and post up maybe GM can learn from them. It was from an article maybe 4 years ago.

Here are the pics. It sure looks better than the GTO did. I am kinda liking the back end.

Rather see them make a Nova, like a 68 style.

yea i read about these back in 2005...they called it the hrss 454.....aloha customs is the company that makes em...basically a gto reformed. but i still like it....its over 100k if i remember correctly. if gm could make something like this and keep it cheaper than a camaro ss then i think they could do really well.

395whp is probably just some extremely high reading dyno. None of this matters though i just wanna see what people are running in the 1/4mile in a year or so when good drivers get there hands on them. Probably mid 12s with a good driver trapping 110-113mph.

The test data rolling in from Motor Trend has the 2011 GT ahead of the SS by a couple tenths to 60 and the 1/4, and the new V-6 only 2/10 of a second behind the 2010 GT at 60 (5.1 vs 4.9). I think that stock 2010 SS will be seeing a lot of Mustang tail lights until the Camaro loses weight or gains power. The next generation Camaro is supposed to lose some length and move to a lighter chassis, which should solve the weight problem. Until then, we'll see. It looks like 1985 all over again.

Correct sir, and im not a ford guy but you cant wait for the z28 to come out. The z28 will be a 50k+ car and the SS is already 40k out the door and they say the 2011 gt will msrp just above 30k. GM needs to do a few things because all they seem to have done is borrow money from the government and still arent able to keep up with ford.
