aftermarket tach problem
what would cause the tach to ground out the engine?
it runs fine without the tach, then when i connect the ground wire the engine turns off. This is on a friends '80 grand prix.

Something is wrong!!
What kind of tach are you hooking up?
The green wire should be on the - side of the coil. Are you runiing a stock HEI dist.?
So your saying you connect the small black wire that is teh ground for the tach and it kills the motor........?
If that what your saying I would be willing to beat the green wire is spliced in to the wrong circuit.Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

Take it back and tell him to go to Autozone and buy a cheap ass Sun.
