    Nice Vette!! You have any pictures of that Ls1 engine?

    I just bought an 1980 vette and im still deciding on what to do with the engine.

    More than Likely im going to buid it for my GF to race. But I was thinking Old School 350 4 bolt main, with a supercharger, Just to make it look good and run good :} although I can't make it faster than my current drag car LOL, Ill never hear the end of that :}

    MSD makes a nice little box that takes care of that,,,,you can make all your timing changes with it. Then run a carb and it makes retrofitting the LS motors very simple in the older stuff. Not exactly cheap to convert but it sure does simplify things for applications like this.

    Very neat vette by the way. I have been wanting to do a carbed LS1 swap in a sunbeam.

    Yep,,,thats the idea

    I've had many V-8 vegas over the years and currently a V-8 Monza.

    I have a thing for V-8's in little 2,xxx lbs. cars.

    nice vette,was there a lot of modifications needed to get the ls to fit? I've tried to get my dad to get an ls1 for his '78 but he won't touch the thing because its only got 8,500 mi on it and wants to keep it original, i tried to tell him he can always keep all the old stuff and put it back together, oh well i still have my own ls1 for now haha

    It was little tricky... but really not to bad at all... motor is moved forward a little more than a inch. Which moves all the stuff in the drive train.

    I could easily go back to stock.

    Thats cool your Dad has less than 10k miles.

    But unless it is a 78 L82 pace car... He would have more fun driving his car and watching. IMO

    I don't run an LS motor in it. It's more old school with a mild 406, dart heads, muncie 4 speed etc....runs 12.50's and 60's on street tires at 112 mph. It's just a daily driver.

    It makes the conversion much easier in an older (non computerized) vehicle. Also makes it cheaper as well,,,since you no longer need a computer/lap top for tuning along with expensive software. It really simplifies things. The MSD controller does all the ignition for you thus eliminating the need for a computer all together,,,so there is much less wiring and clutter to mess with as well.

    It's been shown on the dyno many times that the carbs make as much or generally a little more HP than the fuel injected motors as well, so you're not losing anything.

    It's a great way to go in an older vehicle if you know how to tune carburators,,,my hats off to holley505 for a job well done.
