    1974 Chevrolet Corvette L-82

Finally took some pics today of our 1974 Corvette. This is the car that my wife purchased when she was 21 years old -- and has owned for the past 23 years. In 1993, it was parked for 13 years until we married and I began the restoration. The car went back on the road in 2007 and we are still working out the last few issues.

The car is now equipped with a .060" over 350 with Vortec heads, a Muncie M-21, and has 3.55 gears. It is an absolute blast to drive.

Thanks! They were on the car when she bought it -- Westerns from the late '70s or early '80s. I lightly sand blasted between the webs and then sanded and polished the spokes and outer circumference. Spent many hours to make them look like that.

My mom had a vette with a L-82 in it and she hates herself all the time for letting my dad sell it when they first got pregnant with me.

I love the 69-74 Corvettes always wanted to get one of my own.

It is a whole lot of fun to drive. The restoration was a bit tedious though -- everything on the car was in need of serious TLC and they are just not easy cars to work on. Tell your mom it's never too late to pick up another C3. The prices are not all that bad and you can get a nice driver for $15,000 or less.

Great pics Jeff, I have always loved the C3s, one of the best Vette body styles. What is the paint color, I love it.

Wow, great looking Vette. Always can appreciate hard work on restoring a car. Would you happen to have any pictures before the restoration?

Three problems: 1. Still has idle issues. I am not able to locate a vacuum leak so I am thinking that there may be some debris in the idle passageways. 2. The headlights both raise and lower when I start the car. I have a new headlight switch to install as everything else was replaced during the restoration. 3. It recently destroyed the rear sway bar. The ends of the bar bent out and contacted the rims. Had to remove it from the car.

Don't tell anyone, but it's actually a factory Ford color from a few years back.

I do, but they are on print film. I only recently joined the digital age.

favorite car of all time, hands down....

Ive always been a fan a lower profile DR's or directional tires....anything considered performance...But for some reason i think these vettes look good with big meaty tires like that.

402 Guru and 402 Wifey -- that is cool!

Being an older Vette -- it has vacuum actuated headlights and the closest thing to a computer was the logic module for the seat belt interlock. That has been removed as the sensor strips in the seat bottoms were in poor shape and they just looked like a problem waiting to happen.

What did the seatbelt module do? Just a warning or buzzer?

The module prevented the car from being started unless the seatbelts were buckled. The sensor strips were installed in each seat bottom so the module would "know" if the driver and passenger seat were occupied. In case the system malfunctioned, there was a bypass button under the hood, mounted to the firewall.

This is old school -- running a Q-jet on an Edelbrock Performer intake. I would have to look up the cam specs as it has been almost 5 years since the motor was assembled. It is just a bit lumpy for that nice sounding idle, but still pulls good vacuum.

The restoration on ours was a complete PITA. Everything was either broken or needed attention. I understand...
