1967 Chevelle Build
Just joined the forum and had a request to start thread on the progress of my build. My dream car build started about 11 years ago and is still going, mainly because of time and limited funds, oh wait, that hows life goes sometimes. Somethings were worth the wait and I would have to save for awhile but all in all I am glad I am doing it the way I want and can't wait to throw the power down one of these days.
So, here I go and I hope you all enjoy my build and I look forward to your comments, suggestions and help when I get stumped.
Here are a couple of pics when I first bought it back in January 2001. It wasn't much to look at back then but I had big plans from day one.Last edited by CHEVELLE of JONESY; 07-19-2012 at 05:58 AM.

I tore the entire car down to the frame, sand blasted it and used Eastwoods Frame Restoration Kit.

The next step was to start building up the suspension and brakes. I got a 12 bolt rear end built by Mark Williams with superior axles, welded tubes, Eaton carbon fiber posi, black powder coat and 12 inch Baer discs to replace the 10 bolt.
The front I went with Global Wests "G" setup, Baer 13 inch two piece discs and B-body spindles.
I also put QA1 shocks on all four corners with the front being a coilover setup (this pic still shows my old BBC springs). There are some things you just can't test in a white lab coat.

After completing the suspension build up, I temporarily installed the body and front clip in order to measure for wheels and tires.
Currently Coys C5 wheels (18x7, 18x9) with 235/40 up front and 275/35 out back.

I agree! I'll be keeping tabs on this one for sure. If I were ever to get another Chevelle, it'd most likely be a 67.

You bet I would! I'm kinda torn between the 66 and the 67 to be honest. All I know is that after my two 69's, and a 15 year relationship, it would almost feel like I was cheating on them if I drove another

Hey everyone, thank you very much for the warm welcome on my build. I have plenty more pics and I will be putting them up over the next several days to get the build caught up to where I am currently.

The one area that I really hate is doing body work, mainly because I think I suck at it. I had rust in the usual areas, trunk, rear quarters, front fenders and minor floor spots.

It'll be worth it when you're done. You can say you did all the work yourself. LS1 for power, or BBC, SBC or what?

Looks like you were able to pick up a rear quarter panel. And I agree with Too Fast. Doing it all yourself makes all the difference when you're done. It will truly be yours. One of a kind.
I'm just happy to see there are still people interested in saving and restoring the classics. Even in restomod fashion I love a stock classic like anyone else, but, I have nothing against changing it up either. What ever keeps them on the road

Here are some pics of the engine compartment and interior. This was originally a 327, 4 speed car, but when I got it some jerky put a 283 and turbo 400 in it.

The interior wasn't too bad other than the rats nest of wiring under the dash, the Pontiac steering wheel and lack of ownership pride of having a muscle car; some people kids.

The interior is pretty clean. The seats and door panels look good. The turbo 400 I get. The 283, and the steering wheel, I don't
