I was just curious if anyone knew if a ls7 crate engine would fit in a 4th gen f-body.

Of course it will, the external dimensions are pretty much the same as the LS1/LS2/LS6. You might have to get inventive if you want to keep the dry sump system though.

yes it will, but just curious.... Why put that crate engine in? Its gonna cost you no cheaper than probably $17K, and you could have another sized motor from say an LS2 block bored and stroked put together that will make more power than the crate LS7.

Dont get me wrong, I love that engine and wouldnt mind it myself, but all you want is ~505HP? You can get that out of your current block and stock bottom end. I know it has potential, but again... you are PAYING for all those components and it would not be worth it to get THAT motor and then dump another 5K into it to make real power.

    Just my opinion.

I have seen 9 sec camaros built for less than that crate costs. and it will only put you in the high 11s.

But if you are making it a show car, then props to you my friend, you will win!
Or even a nice daily driver. I guess I think too big sometimes.

    With a warranty though?

Five hundred horsepower, and eleven second time slips is still pretty damn impressive in my book.

Some places DO provide warranties, but probably not as good as the one from GM.

If that is your goal and you would be happy with it, then go for it, but 17K is a TON of coin for what you are getting.

    Just my 2 cents.
