Will 2000 6.0 engine be good Hp. investment?

The shop where I work has a 2000 6.0 iron block engine that I can get for free or little of nothing.will this engine be worth rebuilding and putting a carb. on it and putting it in my 69 chevy truck? If so what can be done to get it in the 450 hp range?and what is the stock Hp figures? The engine has iron heads also.

if it were damn near any small block for free i'd say yes, but a free 6.0 is a pot of gold. aftermarket carb manifolds work awesome on these motors. 450 horse @ the fly on an lq9 can be attained with cam and long tubes. to get 450 wheel you will need a set of heads, or at least a lot of head work on factory castings, and a big cam/intake.

Just have it checked before you do anything. You don't want to spend money on a junk block.

Always do and will with this one .but I pulled the engine out of the truck, I used the truck as my service call truck. The engine ran good but there was a bad wristpin ,so the shop foreman bought a new one.Every thing is on the engine, coils, fan, intake, pullies everything but the Ac unit.
