I personally would do heads/cam/double timing chain,ls6 oil pump all at the same time. You can get a package deal from Texas Speed. They have the MAGIC STICK 3 or 4 cam which is awsome from what I read.

I would do a heads/cam combo at the same time. It's better to be able to match them together at the same time compared to doing one or the other and then trying to match up later. The latter would most likely be a more expensive route for you.

For example, say you went cam only. Most want a monster cam to give them the HP/TQ numbers. With that said, it's fine. However later when you want to add your ported heads you will most likely have to flycut your pistons to clear the cam. Now you added extra costs for new pistons, flycut labor, and/or a new cam altogether.

Is your car manual or auto? Do you plan on tuning right away?

I have a 01 WS6 also I have a custom comp 228/236,578/588 114 cam and stock heads that have been ported and polished with manley valves, dual springs and all the standard upgrades to support the cam. I got 393 rwhp and 352 tq on a Mustang Dyno. This was done a few years ago and the car still runs great.I also have a 3400 stall and 12 bolt with 3.73 gears. Idles at around 900 rpm no issues at all.
