VHP Accelerated Lift Cam
Whats up, ive been lookin at Vinci's camshafts for awhile tryin to figure out which one im gonna go with. i origionally planned on the "XXX" cam:
DUR @ .004" 284* / 290*
DUR @ .050" 222* / 228*
LIFT .551 / .551
OVERLAP 57*
LSA 115
but i was wondering what thier camshaft "The beast" would do in a stock cube motor that isnt so stock... the sound clip they had was this same cam only in a 408 stroker and sounded nasty. i talked to the vinci tech guy and he said 'it would be way more than anyone would want in a STREET car'. but i know everyone's idea of a STREET car is different.
the numbers dont look too aggressive, ive heard of ALOT of people running similar numbers in stock displacement motors. Of course i know the lift will be more than .551 with the accelerated lift rockers. but the intake/exhaust numbers dont look to shabby. Anyone know how much the lift would come out to with vinci/crane 1.89 ratio rockers?
DUR @ .004" 290*/ 294*
DUR @ .050" 228*/ 232*
LIFT .551 / .551
OVERLAP 68*
LSA 112*
i think with my pp stgII ls6 heads, ported ls6 intake, and bbk 80mm this would be just fine? or wouldnt it?Last edited by wesTXwitesnake05; 03-27-2006 at 05:48 PM.

yeah i used their 062 cam in the wife's car. i keep telling roger and joe vinci that i'm going to put the beast cam into my black car. they keep telling me the same thing. and it won't be easy to idle. as you can tell by the sound clip of joe's 408 z28, it's really nasty.
also, depending on which ratio accelerated lift rockers you use will determine the final lift. the 1.7 (1.72 at max) ratio will net you .557. the 1.8 (1.82 at max) willl net you .589.Cold Air Intake, Muffler Delete, Vinci High Performance Dual Valve Springs, Hardened Pushrods, Yella Terra 1.85 Rockers, Some Hydropdipped Stuff, Strut Tower Brace, Some SS Badges, boost/vacuum gauge, fuel pressure gauge, some checkered stripes, drilled/slotted rotors, ZL1addons Stealth wickerbill, Ruxifey LED side markers

yeah i was afraid of hearing that it wouldnt idle well. but the sound of it is like musik to my ears! you dont think it wouldnt be a good weekend street/strip warrior unless you had more cubes? so far im still leaning towards the "xxx" cam but i kind of want something that sounds more like the beast, you know?
mrr23, do you know what kind of numbers the beast made in that 408?00' ws6, custom paint, bolt on's and bolt in's.. http://www.fquick.com/garages/viewvehicle.php?id=11454

joe hasn't finished tuning it still. last i heard, it was over 500 rwtq. it would be a real nice track cam in a small/stock cube type of motor. they call it beast for a reason.
the XXX cam is a good choice. next one would be the 055 cam.
DUR @ .004" 278*/ 286*
DUR @ .050" 216*/ 224*
LIFT .551/.551
OVERLAP 57*
LSA 113*
