Trick Flow Heads and Cam Package

Anybody got any comments on this package. 515hp on the LS1 with an LS6 intake is what summit racing is saying for 3,099.00. Seems like a good deal. Let me know what you all think.

The package itself is a great package for a streetable racer. All in all, with a good tune you should end up around 430 - 450 rwhp providing you have the supporting mods (full exhaust, headers, lid, etc.). Not to mention, the performance increase you're getting for the price is rather impressive. Most of the forced induction kits would cost 2x more and would achieve similar power #'s at 5 - 6 lbs of boost (presuming it was installed on a relatively stock LS1).

Depends on what he is looking for? If he is looking for 505 hp, This is the way to go. Personally I like the heads and cam mod but you have to know what the potinal of the heads and cam mod is, I would agree mid 400's...

Do you think you could put a kit together for less money and make as much power as this?

It all depends on what you're looking to accomplish. If you're looking for 420 - 435 rwhp with great street manners, you could mate one of the trick flow cams (see the one in my sig) with a set of PRC Stage 2.5 LS6 heads. The cam will run you around $330 and the heads are roughly $1,450 assembled. If you're looking to spend a little more, check out the Vengeance VRX3 and VRX4....you'll end up spending more on the cam, however many have stated that they make ridiculous power!

In short, while the Trick Flow heads and cam package is a great match and proven performer, there are still many other good (and cost effective) alternatives.

Vengeance VRX3 and VRX4, I to have heard they make tons of power. But I haven't heard about there street manners. How good are they overall.

I have the VRx3 which puts down 396 RWHP.It is a good cam, really opens up what my car could do (is only a cam and exhaust car with a tune). As for as driving it on the street I put down almost easily 1000 miles a month and have had no real problems with it. I have the 112 lsa which is a little more grumpy on cold starts then I would imagine the 114.

How much did it affect gas mileage. That is crazy power for just your mods.

The cam has had no noticeable change to my mileage at all. As long as I drive like a normal person I can get the same mileage that I had when the car was stock, however, I can drastically reduce that with a happy foot.

The cam itself added about 40 RWHP after it was tuned in with all the other supporting mods (springs, oil pump, timing chain)

Lid, Long tubes, TD exhaust, cam, and a tune, along with minor stuff and a tune.

So pretty much we have damn near identical cars except for the cam and tune for you. I am full bolt on with duals.

You actually have a few things I don't (pulley, themo, bumpstop) but essentially yes. Though mine does have the Z28 emblems on the side, that does add 15 RWHP

Here is the difference of the cam and new tune alone. I think there is quite a bit more that could have been gained spending a long time tuning, and with a few tune up/minor mods that I need to get done.

Thats a nice graph, I might really consider that cam. What is the difference between the VX3 and the VX4

The VRX3 is just a little smaller on duration and lift (you get to pick LSA). My car is very much a DD so I wanted something very streetable, and that would not kill my springs, not to metion I was hoping it would be a bit more of a torque monster and less of a screamer (car loves high RPMs now). I would think both cams would be very good, and defiantly could drive both of them on the street.

When I was picking out my cam orginally I almost bought a cam from Patriot, because they were almost the exact cam that I wanted. After talking to alot of people and shops I decided that I wanted a little more exhaust then intake and was ready to order a custom cam from Comp, but it just happened that the VRX3 was exactly what I wanted. I would give whoever you buy a cam from and talk to them get their thoughts, then talk to everyone else you can and get their input

On a side note, I think that the Trick Flow heads will go great with my cam. Before I ever bought mine I called them up to get their opinions as well, and they did not find any fault in matching up my cam to their heads.

I have a 2000 M6 with Edelbrock shorty headers, no cats, custom 3 inch exhaust w/x pipe, slp lid, Granatelli Maf, and 160 thermo. Being installed as we speak is the FAST 92 intake, 92mm Throttle body, and 515hp Trick Flow Heads and Cam Package. I am hoping to be around 450RWHP. I will post my numbers when everything is finished, My installer is also doing a custom dyno tune. I want a badass weekend driver that will take any ford on the streets. I hope this will do it. Tell me what you all think!

Thanks for the input. I would say with those mods 450 rwhp should be no problem.
