thrust bearing issues
I've run into a little problem. I am building an LS2 for my 98 camaro. I am using an LS1 crank because of the 24 tooth reluctor wheel. I just got the block back from the machine shop and after the bearings and the crank were in it wouldn't turn by hand. Not even one little bit. There was no endplay whatsoever either. Through process of elimination I determined it was the thrust bearing causing the problem. It seems as if the thrust surfaces are too thick. All parts are standard and it is a set of standard size clevite 77s that I am using. Could the LS1 crank be slightly different than the LS2's? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure about your problem, but be vrry careful and check your reluctor wheels for proper gap and any damage. one of my friends got his crank back from the machine shop, put it in and had all kinds of problems from where the wheels were bumped

I don't think it is the reluctor, it seems fine. It looks like the thrust bearing is just too big
