Thoughts on First mods to High mileage 01 Z28

My first Planned mods to a totally stone stock LS1 are an intake, 1.8 rrs (new comp cams ones? saw them in gmhtp) replacement valve springs and possibly a very very mild cam in the near future. the motor has 115k miles on it anything I should be aware of?

I have a few questions on other mods.. does mezzier have an ewp for the ls1?
    are there underdrive pullies?

Would any of you reccomend either of those?
Last mods will hopefully be a set of longtubes with a new exhaust. Any brand of longtubes not liked on the forums?

Money better spent in other areas. First off 1.7 rockers if you absolutley must. Water pump like your underdrive pulley lets the car get to the powerband faster but you will only see minimal gains in performance especially if your not rolling w/ the heads and cam.
Slp sucks and everything else is fine-some have even gotten the cheapo stainless ebay headers. As long as the motor was taken care of a cam won't hurt the motor, more of a problem for the rearend's
Money for the water pump and underdrive pulley is your money for a complete cam swap (cam springs pushrods) anywhere from 30rwhp on up w/ headers.

Thanks guys. I'll pass on the waterpump and pullies for sure. I was thinking to go with 1.8 roler rockers and fresh valve springs just to make sure when I rev her out I'm not floating anything. Plus I believe the 1.8s should add just about 5-10 hp at least.

Stock rockers are roller tip 1.7 right? or full roller?

does my 01 have the ls6 manifold ?

Stock rockers are 1.7 roller fulcrum (not roller tip) and your `01 does have an LS6 intake.

If your planning a cam at all I would save the cash on the 1.8 rockers and do the cam, matched springs, new pushrods and put the rocker money towards a tune.

I was thinking to do the rockers first I will definitely want them if I do a cam or more mods in the future. the motor has 118k miles so I am already planning a very mild stroker rebuild perhaps next summer so maybe the cam can wait. I have just heard some horror stories over the years and many people preaching that the stock rockers are just not reliable with cams or strokers.

Hey the stock rockers really are just fine. I'm running them and I'm not even close to stock.

Actually, there was a post in AAG about a month or two ago. The guy's friend owned a dyno and they dynoed after every mod to his car. The best bang for the buck on his set up was the Underdrive Pulley. His car gained 12.9 rwhp and around 18 ft-lbs of torque. They were all done on the same dyno with little variences to weather and humidity. I wish I could dig up the post but it was AWESOME. Showed every mod all the way to full bolt ons with a dyno after every one to show progress.

Some one correct me if I am wrong, but should't his first mod be LT headers! I would think he would gain the most from them, expecially being that he is going to to do all those other mods also.

Actually, I am going to respectively disagree on this. EWP has shown to help out quite a bit. Will it add as much power as LT's........no, but when squeezing every bit of power out it helps. That and running the motor much cooler which increases engine life.
