    could he just use a telescoping gague or dial caliper to check clearences

    It might be a special tool for that. I know my calipers won't go down there... If the bore got hammered out / egg shaped, he might need a new block. Should have a machine shop check it and make sure it's good to re-assemble.

    bill, u can have the block bored to take bigger lifters, or have a sleave put in... just my .02
