Crank should be good for much more than 500 RWHP.
It is normally the rods that give.
I know a guy that has put 10K miles on his turbo'd stock motor making 670 RWHP. Stock bottom end, stock cam/heads.
It really depends on what you are throwing at it.2008 Trailblazer SS
Yank PTB3600, Kooks 1 7/8" LT's, 4" intake, E-fans, Magnaflow, Sonnax kit, tranny cooler, tune.
Lowered, HID's, tinted.

I heard that LS1's are stronger after 30k miles... is there any truth behind that?

They are completely broken in.
They may have slightly stronger power numbers around the 30K mile mark.

I read in a few ls1 books that the stock bottom end should hold up until about 550rwhp. Then you will loose your pins. Biggest weak spot would be the valve train. "push rods".
just my op.
