2000 Grand Prix GTP- 2000 Trans Am WS6 M6
Spring Build Up
In the Spring I'm planning on dropping the engine and putting some basic power adders to it. Here's the list I've come up with:
90mm LSX Intake and Throttle Body
Heads
224R Camshaft (224/224 .581/.581 112 Lobe Separation) from Texas Speed
1.75 Roller Rocker Arms
Valvtrain Upgrade Kit (Springs, Pushrods, etc.)
LS6 Oil Pump
NX Direct Port Nitrous Kit (120-Shot...maybe 180 if possible)
NGK TR6 Spark Plugs
255lph Fuel Pump (mine's going out anyway)
Moser 9" Rear End Assembly (Tru-Loc Posi)
My problem is that I don't know if I'm leaving anything out with this? I also don't know which heads would match this setup?
I have a friend who works at a shop that does Dyno Tuning and what not, so that won't be a problem (he's helping me with this build-up as well).
Thanks for the help in advance.2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 M6: 427ci LS3, Built T56, Moser 9" w/ 4.11 Gearing, Full Suspension, and 6-point Cage.
2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP: Twincharged w/ a T67 Turbocharger

what's your budget for heads? Pretty big difference in price between AFR's and PRC's. AFR being one of the better heads out there and PRC being a good budget head. Are you an a4 car or m6 car? Just because I don't see a stall or clutch listed. I would guess an m6 since you're getting that cam on a 112??
Might as well do an underdrive pulley and timing chain while you're in there. I went with the 228R and am real happy with it.

Yes, my car is an M6.
I'm looking for a good set of heads, I just don't want to spend an outrageous amount for them (I don't need top of the line Heads for my daily driver)...I was looking to spend about 1500 for non assembled heads. I was more looking for a type of Head (Stange 1, 2, 2.5, etc.), I've seen these numbers floating around but I don't know what they mean, and I'd love to learn what they actually mean, so I know what I'm talking about when I brag to friends about my car.
Regarding the Timing Chain and Underdrive Pulleys, I think I'll do the Timing Chain as well, but I'm going to stay away from the pulley after reading that thread a little bit ago about them.
I was looking at the 228R, and you're the second person to rave about it, so I think I may go with that instead.
But anyway...heads...any rough suggestions?

Oh...I already have a Stage 3 Clutch in the car, so that's not a worry atm.

the stage number just refers to the amount of work done to the heads. You can compare a few to see what the differences are. It'll vary from valve sizes to springs to cnc work ect ect. I personally went with PRC 5.3L stage 2.5 heads. Mostly because they fit my budget and I read good things about them before buying them. I got 2.04 intake valves with dual springs and a smaller chamber yielding 10.75:1 CR. There are definitely better heads out there but those fit what I needed budget and performance wise.
What have you read about the u-drive pulley that would scare you off? I run one on mine and other than it just looking new you really don't know it's there and I have an automatic which are a little more sensitive to them. Your old pulley has to come off anyhow and the u-drive pulley is cheap and easy HP.
