    SLP cam/head packages

What do you think about SLP's current CAM/head packages for the LS1? They claim 525 HP and 600 HP depending upon which package. ANy thoughts? I want to change cam/heads on my 02 LS1 Hawk. I want it all to work well together to be a combo of daily driver slash mean machine. I currently have 346 RWHP from simple bolt ons and exhaust work. I'm shooting for 450-500 RWHP. Since it's only a roughly 100-150 HP gain, seems like CAM/heads should get me there. I'm new to this so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, where to buy?? I would gladly buy a package that has been thought out by a manufacturer which is why SLPs package caught my eye.

    what above poster said.

    slp inflates their numbers.
slp rates the packages at the crankshaft.
all other tuners will rate packages at the rear wheeks which dynos less.
making 450 rwhp and up wont be a daily driver friendly car.

if you are an automatic car, youll need a stall converter, from 3000-3500 rpm.
youll also need long tube headers, exhaust, ported throttle body, cam and heads.

as for a cam head combo thats streetable/daily driver,
a 224/224 cam and some patroit 2.5s or afr 205 heads.
above combo with bolt ons could net you up to 430 rwhp with a dyno tune.

check out ls1speed.com, tbyrne.com and thunder racing.
they are all sponsors here. check out all the sponsors for sales and such.

    SLP sucks donkey balls.
But seeing how I lived in Santa Clarita and owned Cousins Burgers I feel compelled to go further
Shit/forgot to turn off the BOLD....there that is better....
Many great head and cam packages out there right now...higher quality and the folks will stand behind them versus SLP your own your own after your credit card clears methadology....
    OK...I feel better ...
Step one...find and feel comfortable with a tuner/shop/wrench...do not go buy a H/C package and take all your shit to a shop and say "put it on"...that is a bad thing.....You want reliable power and measurable results....buying a package and having a shop install it ( or yourself) and taking it to a tuner is only gonna get you deniability from everyone involved man....the folks you bought the package from are gonna say it was installed wrong or tuned wrong...the wrench is gonna say it was a fucked up package...the tuner is gonna say the heads/cam/springs/wrench sun spots did it.....are you following me kid?
Get a top notch shop to do it turn key...one throat to choke always works better....and SLP sucks donkey balls...did I already say that? Hell I'm old...
And in the future when you feel compelled to ask the almighty "what is better" question on the internet...be prepared to get " The one I bought is the best" answers
By the way....if you wanna play with the big boys..Patriot Heads..period.

Thanks for the responses, especially your sarge. I'm looking for something that borders on radical but still driveable. I don't drive the car every day. I was going to install it myself, but maybe not. Do you know of a good place in socal that does f-body work??
I want the cam to be a little on the rough side.

    Here's what I have:

    2002 Firehawk, LS1. 6-speed
    LS6 intake from the factory.
    fast toys ram air.
ported exhaust manifolds and all new exhaust system w/high flow cats.
    ASP underdrive pulley
    fan switch
    skip shift
    smooth bellows
tybrne motorsports polished MAF sensor (ends only)
