Should I buy?
I got a guy that wants to sell me a comp cam. He said that it was on his car fo less thta 100 miles before he stripped and sold the parts. I don't know the numbers on it yet, but I am supposed to see it today. He is selling the cam ONLY. My question is (and I am pretty sure) don't these come in package deals too? If not, then what else would I need to install this cam? My car only has a lid and magnaflow pipes. Also, how much hp gain would this offer?

the cam grind is on the back of the cam.I would buy a cam kit from a sponsor, you get a new cam with all the right parts.

I bought a torquer 2 cam, push rods and springs from TSP for maybe $700....I might be off by a few $$$. I would not buy used either.

Only buy internals used if you know there history. I have an '02 Z06 cam in mine and it was used. But I bought it from a friend.
ANY DOUBTS, buy new. No sense in thowing junk into a perfectly good motor.

I bought a used cam. But it came from a reputable person & only had a few hours on it.
And I've put thousands of miles on it since!
In fact, I've put more miles on the car in the last month with the new additions than I did all of last year! It's just way too fun to drive now, ...
But back to the topic at hand, ..., If the seller is a reputable person, then go for it. Of course it depends on how it was initally used, condition, etc, ...

Nothing wrong in buying a user roller cam if you like the specs on it. Now if we were running a flat tappet cam that would be different. But I've sold several take outs to forum members with 0 problems. Just make sure you get the correct new springs and pushrods that you'll need to run it. Alot of people out there are just upgrading their cams when their cars just don't run fast enough for them anymore. But in your case unless its a sleeper cam or very small your not going to have the mods to pull off a cam change until you add some LTs and if your an A4 a convertor.
