    Recommend a cam?

Thinking about it seriously..... want ideas and experiences from other members:
What do you think of this one
    Lunati 224 -- Lift: .560/.560 Dur@.050: 224/224 LSA: 112 ??
Or any others that are gonna be about the same that you like personally????

I had a Comp Cams 224/224 .581/.581 112LSA installed and it gave me 25hp and 14ft lbs tq at the rear wheels. If I remember correctly you have headers and some other mods so you could even bump up to a little bigger 228 Cam. The 112 LSA gives it that really nice lope at idle and my car after the cam and tune w/the LM produces a very nice sound. Double check the RPM power range when looking at cams. mine is from about 2200PRM-7000PRM as stated by Comp Cams. Mine pulls like a mother all the way to redline which I have set at 6600RPM.

I want a nice sound as well as power, those are the 2 most important things to me. I do have LT's, and a lid. Also a custom tune so my rpms are a little different.

I believe that you will still need to get a re-tune after installing the cam to truly see and feels the gains of the cam. I know that once i install LT's I will need to get my car retuned which is what I recommend for you. Cost here for me is 50 bucks for the dyno time that's all. If you send me a PM with your e-mail address I can let you know how a Comp Cams 224 with Lid, Smooth Bellow, and LM sounds through stock manifolds at idle and revving. I know I'm happy with the sound and the performance. I just need to get some LT's and LS6 intake...sigh

You are leaving out the most important thing. What do YOU want oot of this cam? Is it a DD? Track car only? What are your driving habits? Fill in the blanks and picking a cam becomes easier. Personally for me I DD my car and I went with a TR224 .563 114 cam.....with Hooker CB, headers, ORY , LS6 manifold, ported TB and the the cam I went from 332 hp and 340 tq up to 399 hp and 397 tq with a good tune.

Okay, this is a DD. But I also want really good performance for the track. I have the headers, the catback, ORY and a tune. I am waiting to get retuned until after I do the cam. I also will do a ported TB, debating on the manifold... But that is the kind of power I am looking for if not more. But on a DD how does your gas go?

Gas has suffered a tad, but only when I ride ir hard into the upper RPMs. During DD duties I do my best to shift under the powerband....usually around 2000 RPMs, to save on gas. When I am cruising home the roads are usually empty so it.s 6th gear at 75 mph all the way. With those goals in mind that you listed something in the 224-228 range would be good for you, just make sure your tuner tunes it to your needs. I have no regrets on my TR224...it kicks in at around 2800 and pulls up to 5850 RPMs, where it peaked at 399 hp.

I have the TSP 224R 112LSA and i love it as a DD, I am getting it tuned right now and will let you know what it feels like without the crappy stock tune that ive had for 5 months now. This cam kicks in about 2,000rpm and pulls all the way to redline, i have no problem with stalling or surging with M6.

The lunati cam lobes are 'lazy' performance wise... I'd go with a Comp cams xer grind

Thanks. That was the kind of input I was looking for. Does comp cam have a similar cam to the lunati???

Yes they have similar grinds... And if not a custom lobe cam can be ordered!

this is some good info...I have a 382 stroker, but it's going to see DD duty...i was very conservative with the heads (67cc CCs and 213cc runners 300 cfm@ .600) and was trying to match a cam as well...I was looking to stay in the same parameters as SunsetZ, but wasn't sure if the motor would benefit from those specs. I'm going to use 1.85s and the springs are rated to .650...

    thanks!

Okay so I am gonna go with a 228R from Texas Speed. Should I keep in line with the 112 or go to a 114?

And, I am thinking new heads too... Is PRC a good company?
