Black- 98 SS
quick spring question
Hey all, just need some good ole advise. I am doing heads and cam on my 98 and got some new heads that came with Comp 918 springs. I'm installing Crane's 1.8 rockers and a decent size cam (222/228 115lsa and .551 lift). My question is about the springs...a good shop has told me that the 918 springs won't hold up for me and that only a double spring that is stronger will take my setup. I run at roadcourses with car clubs so I do sustain high RPM's. What do you guys think? Anyone using the 918's with a similar setup?
Thanks for the help.
Jeff

918's are great springs.
.551 lift?? The 918 will be more than enough. They are rated to .600 and have even gone higher. Although I would probably run a dual spring at .595 and up.

i knew that with the 1.8 Rocker that it would increase my lift from the .551 up to a .583 lift and since the springs are rated for a .600 I was thinking that the math says I'm ok. I am just a little worried about the RPM durability. The biggest problem is that I'm poor and don't want to Re-buy springs.

actually the crane accelerated lift rockers will put you at .589 lift. sounds like you've been talking with vinci. personally, get the crane 144833 double springs. you can use the 144832 double springs as well.
Cold Air Intake, Muffler Delete, Vinci High Performance Dual Valve Springs, Hardened Pushrods, Yella Terra 1.85 Rockers, Some Hydropdipped Stuff, Strut Tower Brace, Some SS Badges, boost/vacuum gauge, fuel pressure gauge, some checkered stripes, drilled/slotted rotors, ZL1addons Stealth wickerbill, Ruxifey LED side markers

I'm not a fan of the 918s. I had 918s and a TR230 (230/224 563/575 110 lsa) cam before my rebuild and they wore out in a couple of months.
