when I swapped cams, I did the following:

    Comp 224/224 .581/.581 112lsa
    Ls2 timing chain
Ls6 Oil pump (ported and shimmed)
    Patriot Dual Gold Springs
    Titanium retainers
    Spring Bases
    Pushrods

I chose not to do lifters since I only have 30,xxx on the car. Stock lifters are fine depending on mileage and the lift of the new cam. it's not a necessary upgrade, neither are the spring bases, but since I had all the pieces I used them all...

really thinking of getting a cam package from TSP including their Magic stick 4. has anyone purchased this cam package yet? How well does it work, would you say it would be too much for a DD if so what would be a good cam for a DD.

i think your stock lifters will fine for anything under .600 lift. however, don't hold me to that. call TSP and they would be able to point you in the right direction.

I am not sure what the cam specs are for the MS4. I thought it was either the high 230 range or low 240 range. for a DD it is possible but idle and off idle drivability would be a bit more rough than some may prefer. usually for a DD if the cam is around 228 or 230 is about as high as you would want to go. also, I would stay away from anything lower than a 112 lsa, esp the bigger cam size you select.

I used this setup on my 2001 WS6.

    TSP 231/237 .598/.595 112 LSA CAMSHAFT
PATRIOT GOLD VALVE SPRINGS (GOOD TO .650 LIFT)
LUNATI HARDEND PUSH RODS (STOCK LENGTH)

Works great with stock heads, and even better with a good set of AFR heads.

thanks for the info guys. I am now looking at TSP 228R cam the specs are:
228/228 .588/.588 112lsa. along with i would get TSP hardened chromoly pushrods and comp cams 918 spring kit (rated at .600lift) is this a streetable application, I have stock heads. This isnt going to be too much for my rearend is it. Also would it be too much to have a converter/stall installed at the same time, dont want to destroy my stock rear end just yet if its avoidable.

that cam will work just fine, very streetable. you will have no problems at all. remember to get a tune after getting your cam installed. it will not hurt your rearend and yes a TQ converter installed at the same time would benefit you greatly. however, since I have an M6, I can't help you there.

NHRA Formula will be able to offer up some tips in that area I'm sure...
