    Question Questions about 317 Head Swap

    I'm getting ready to put a set of 317's on my 98' SS to lower the compression for the turbo kit going on. My question is what head gaskets do I use? I already ordered and received a set of GM 5.7L MLS gaskets from thunder racing (p/n 20-12589226). I held them up to the heads and they line up perfectly with the combustion chambers as well as the other holes in the bottom of the head. Yesterday I came across a thread on another site stating you need to use the 6L gaskets. Can anyone confirm if this is true? I would think (and I'm usually wrong) that since these are sitting on a 5.7L block, you would use those gaskets. The 243's off the ls2 (6L) use 5.7L gaskets so why wouldn't these? I just don't want to have to take the heads off twice and screw something up. Let me know your thoughts.

    Yea it really does. Like I said, I have the 5.7L gaskets and they line up perfect. I don't understand why I would need to use the 6L gaskets and what the difference would be if these line up. Hopefully someone with experience will chime in.
