    pics of Whiteboycntdnce's H/C/I install n progress

My buddy (wantedz) got started on Whiteboycntdnce's heads/cam/intake swap today and I snapped some pics as it went. I will update these tomorrow night as well.

Tim (car owner) is going from pretty much stock (LTs ORY cutout) to running a milled set of AFR 205s, an LG motorsports G5X3 cam, Fast 90/90, and a nitrous shot all in one jump Hey, when you need speed now, you need it The pics are from this afternoon. The stuff hooked up to the laptop is me loading his PCM with a bench harness wince the power was disconnected for the work. Enjoy.

the blonde is my girl and FWIW, I'm sure they would have rather been somewhere else.

Here are some pics from this AM up until about 2pm when I had to get on the road back to Richmond.

Tim, your pistons have more carbon on top of them than I have ever seen before. These pics show the block after the heads are off, again once the deck has been cleaned/prepped and the cam going in.

Wouldnt the car running so damn lean for so long have something to do w/ the carbon? remember the first time you tuned the car the A/F was sky high even off the bottle?

the first thing I thought of was there is no way in hell I'd wanna be working on my car with my wife even in the same building.....much less sitting near the car.
that is a shit ton of carbon buildup. Is it sucking a bunch of oil in through the intake? I'd get as much of that off as possible before bolting it back up.

Yeah he got off what he could (hard to see but you kind of can in the next to the last pic) but the bottom layer was seriously baked on and he didn't wanna use something that could scar the piston and make a hot spot. I was wondering what it was from as well and wondering about the same.

How did you guys go about getting it off without scaring the pistons?

I had a little on my 98 but not like that. I took a razor blade laid on it's side and just cut it away. You just have to be very careful doing that and not let the corners of the blade dig in. Same principle as removing the graphite from the head gasket. It's not for everyone and you have to take your time but you can get a lot of it off doing that.

Yea now that I think about it I believe it was a bad MAF, i know you still had to play with it for sometime before the car was right the second time around w/ the new MAF... Im running down there in a few hours to drop off the fast 90

I would put a catch can on it myself. Have you ever looked into the intake or the back of the tb to see how much oil is getting in there? I'm no pro or anything but I would almost certainly think that there has to be some oil getting in there to build up that much carbon.

Yeah I would think the same. I may have taken those pics down there over the weekend, but I wasn't exactly in good working order myself

Why don't I just give ole wantedz a call right now and ask.

I just looked into the stock intake and there is a considerable amount of oil and grime in there. And maro dude why do you have to live in va to put heads and cam on your car. I am just wondering why you said that.

another thing you could do is seafoam it once it's back together and running good. That may help you too if you start having detonation problems.

Yeah I was going to mention that to him (the seafoam).

    To all reading:
I may have a hand in arrangements, but Jason (wantedz) is doing all of the actual work. Well for the most part anyway. He is a long time friend and very very conscientious with his work and knows what he is doing. I just didn't want anyone reading to give credit to me for work that I did not do.

I try not to give you credit unless I absolutely have to.
