A lot.... Are you building it yourself? Because if you don't know whats involved, beware of a pretty bumpy road ahead.

Crank, pistons, block, heads, valve train, drive accessories... there are a TON of parts to get.

Start with an automotive school, you will learn much more and you will learn it faster and probably cheaper than building your own motor.

Or find some junk parts and start there.

    How old are you?

ever seen a Bill of Materials for an engine? it is fricken huge when you break it down to base components. usally alot of the stuff comes assembled. mu job this summer is drawing with CAD and intigrating BOM's, Literally thousands of parts go into fairly simple machines. Engines are very large BOM's

Well since you're young and obviously have drive to do something, find a good automotive school... and if you're lucky, a high performance automotive school such as wyotech or something along those lines and get your education. If you already have a block ready to go, be prepared to spend some money on it. First of all, ask yourself this question, what do I want to do with this motor? How do you want to build it, what kind of vehicle is it for. And then do your research. In all honesty, you can't just post on a random forum, what engine parts do I need? There are millions of combonations out there. Internet and library should be screaming your name.

Good luck with everything and keep your goals in mind and work for them, you will never regret them in the end!

This will give you an idea of how it's put together and the parts it takes for an LS engine.

unless you are going to be pushing 1000+ HP you don't need the LSX.
